Amy Spangler
Amy Spangler (b. 1978, Circleville, Ohio, USA) is a graduate of Bryn Mawr College, with BA degrees in Near Eastern and Classical Archaeology and German Language and Literature. Co-founder of AnatoliaLit Agency (www.anatolialit.com), Spangler is the translator of The City in Crimson Cloak by Aslı Erdoğan (Soft Skull, 2007) and the co-editor and co-translator of Istanbul Noir (Akashic Books, 2008). Her English translations of Turkish short stories and novel excerpts have been published in various books and magazines, including the collection ReBerth (Comma Press, 2008), Best European Fiction 2010 (Dalkey Archive Press, 2011) Edinburgh Review, Words Without Borders, and Transcript Review. She teaches courses in Translation Studies at Okan University and Boğaziçi University.
