Behçet Çelik was born in Adana in 1968. He graduated from the Faculty of Law, Istanbul University Faculty in 1990. Çelik’s story “A Cold Fire” was translated into Dutch and published in the collection Stad en Mens, and his story “So Very Familiar” was featured in the collection Istanbul Noir (Akashic Books, 2008). He is the author of six short story collections, including Gün Ortasında Arzu (2007), for which he received the Sait Faik Award, and Diken Ucu (2011), for which he received the Haldun Taner Short Story Award. Former editor of the literary journal Virgül, Çelik is also the author of two novels, Dünyanın Uğultusu (2009) and Soluk Bir An (2012), as well as one children’s book and two collections of essays.
