Haydar Ergülen
Haydar Ergülen is a leading name in contemporary Turkish poetry. Born in 1956 in Eskişehir, he graduated from the Sociology Department at Middle East Technical University in Ankara. Among his published poetry collections are: Sokak Prensesi (Street Princess/1991), Eskiden Terzi (Once a Tailor/1995), 40 Şiir ve Bir (40 Poems and One/1997), Karton Valiz (Cardboard Suitcase/1999), Üzgün Kediler Gazeli (Gazal for Sad Cats /2007), Zarf (Envelope/2010), Keder Gibi Ödünç (Borrowed Like Grief/2011) and Aşk Şiirleri Antolojisi (An Anthology of Love Poems/2011). His poetry won him many awards including”Behçet Necatigil Poetry Award”, “Orhon Murat Arıburnu Poetry Award”, “Halil Kocagöz Poetry Award”, “Cemal Süreya Poetry Award” and “Metin Altıok Poetry Award”.
