Kate Ferguson gained her MA in interpreting and translation studies at the University of Leeds. After graduating she was awarded a European Parliament assistantship grant, which brought her to Turkey to work for one year on the postgraduate interpreting course at Boğaziçi University. Following this Kate worked for a time in an elementary school in Istanbul, before deciding to concentrate on translation. She is currently based in Istanbul, where she works on a variety of translation projects from magazine articles to academic texts. Having been shortlisted for the British Council Young Translators’ Prize in 2012, she now hopes to focus on literary translations.
