Mark David Wyers
Mark David Wyers (b. Los Angeles) received his BA in Literature from the University of Tampa. He lived in Kayseri, Ankara and Istanbul for a number of years and completed his MA in Turkish Studies at the University of Arizona in 2008. His book ‘Wicked’ Istanbul: The Regulation of Prostitution in the Early Turkish Republic, a historical study of gender and the politics of urban space was published in 2012, and his translations of Turkish short stories have appeared in a number of collected works. He is currently a PhD candidate in the Turkish Studies program at Leiden University in the Netherlands, and he continues to work on literary translations from Turkish and Ottoman into English. His translation of Selim İleri’s novel Yarın Yapayalnız is due to be published later this year.
