Murat Gülsoy
Murat Gülsoy was born in 1967. He studied engineering and psychology and has a PhD in biomedical engineering. He began his literary career in 1992 as a publisher and writer at the literary journal Hayalet Gemi. The author of over a dozen published works, Gülsoy has received some of Turkey’s most prestigious awards for his novels and short fiction, such as the Sait Faik Short Story Award, the Haldun Taner Short Story Award, and most recently, the Notre Dame de Sion Literary Award. Gülsoy’s short fiction has been published in German translation as well as in English translation in various journals and anthologies, while his novel İstanbul’da Bir Merhamet Haftası (A Week of Kindness in Istanbul) has been published in Albanian, Arabic, Bulgarian, Chinese, Macedonian and Romanian, with English excerpts featured in Transcript Review as well as this volume. He presently works at Bogazici University as a life science researcher and creative writing teacher, and chairs the Bogazici University Press editorial board.
