Sidney Wade
Sidney Wade has six collections of poems, the most recent of which are Straits and Narrows (2013) and Stroke (2008), both published by Persea Books. Her poems and translations have appeared in a wide variety of journals, including: Poetry, The New Yorker, Grand Street and The Paris Review. In 1989–1990, she taught at Istanbul University as a Senior Fulbright Fellow. She has translated many works of Turkish poetry into English, including works by Melih Cevdet Anday and Yahya Kemal. She has served as president of the Association of Writers & Writing Programs and secretary/treasurer for the American Literary Translators Association. Since 1993, she has taught poetry and translation workshops in the MFA@FLA creative writing program at the University of Florida, where she is poetry editor of the literary journal Subtropics.
